Lesson Three: Assessing Skin Laxity & Setting Expectations

Module 2, Lesson 3

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Perform a Pinch Test to determine skin laxity.
  • Set realistic client expectations about results.
  • Educate clients on downtime and healing phases.

ASSESSING SKIN LAXITY

The Pinch Test is a simple but effective way to determine skin elasticity and treatment suitability.

How to perform the pinch test

1.    Gently pinch the client’s skin between your fingers.

2.    Observe how quickly it snaps back.

·         If the skin is loose and wrinkled, they are a good candidate.

·         If the skin is thick and snaps back quickly, results may be minimal (stimulating collagen growth only).

SETTING REALISTIC CLIENT EXPECTATIONS

Results vary depending on skin type, age, and healing ability. Clients must understand that:

·         Some results may be immediate, but full results take 8-12 weeks as deeper skin layers heal.

·         Plasma Fibroblast is not an exact science—individual outcomes will differ.

·         Some clients may require a follow-up session to achieve desired results.

Clients with severe loose skin may need surgical alternatives, and it’s best to be upfront about this.

💡 Tip: Encourage clients to schedule follow-up treatments between 8 to 14 weeks (not exceeding 4 months) after the first session for optimal results.
